My LDS Charities team started training the master trainers who came from multiple sites in Togo. There were pediatricians, obstetricians, midwives, medical assistant, even the deputy minister of health. At this time, Unicef wanted us to teach the complete course that includes: HMS (Helping Mothers Survive) – Bleeding After Birth, HMS – Preeclampsia-Eclampsia, HBB (Helping Babies Breathe) – Essential Care for All Babies, HBB – Care for Small Babies. It was an extensive course of training both in the material and in the equipment for one week. We worked hard every day from 7:30 AM to 6 – 6:30 PM at the National School of Midwifery in Lome.
